ZESCO UNITED AIM TO LOADSHED INDENI

MTN Zambian Super League defending champions ZESCO United will tomorrow face Indeni football club in a week four fixture scheduled for the Trade Fair Grounds, Ndola.

ZESCO United versus Indeni is never short of sparks and Saturday’s encounter promises to offer a similar story line.

Last season ZESCO United did a double on Indeni with both matches producing the ingredients of a derby.

ZESCO United are still wounded from their early Champions League exit with the local league title defense seen as the alternative source of joy for the nine times league champions and their faithful supporters.

On Wednesday, Coach Numba Mumamba guided his side to the first 2021/22 league victory in the teams opening game against Chambishi.

A 23’ minute explosive strike from ZESCO United attacking midfielder Tafadzwa Rusike and Edward Lungu’s 73’ minute curling exquisite shot left Chambishi shot stopper, Robert Mwanza beaten to double the lead for the hosts.

ZESCO United will be hoping to build on this momentum when they face Indeni at the Trade Fair Grounds tomorrow afternoon.

Mumamba maybe tempted to start with the same lineup that overcame an ambitious Chambishi side.

Ian Otieno is expected to keep his role in between the sticks deputized by Gregory Sanjase.

In defense, Adrian Chama, Solomon Sakala, Samson Mkandawire and John Chishimba will be tasked to thwart Indeni’s threats.

Rusike got his first goal of the season with a thunderbolt of a shot that left Chambishi goalkeeper completely beaten.

The Zimbabwean will arguably command a place in the middle of the park, supported by Donashano ‘Ichamilando’ Malama, Mukuka Chanda and Kelvin Kampamba.

ZESCO United veteran striker, Winston Kalengo led the team’s frontline against Chambishi supported by the young Enock Sakala junior.

Mumamba may opt to rest the veteran striker and perhaps start with Kenyan international goal poacher Jesse Were.

Victory for ZESCO United will mean the champions go into Wednesday’s mid-week away fixture against Kafue Celtic babbling with confidence.
