Zambian Super League defending champions, ZESCO United yesterday humbled Kabwe Warriors 0-2 in the MTN week two rescheduled fixture played at the Godfrey Ucar Chitalu stadium, Kabwe.
Two second half goals from ZESCO United defender Solomon Sakala and Kenyan International striker, Jesse Were ensured that the Ndola based league giants sealed the much sought after three points.
Yesterday’s victory mean that the nine-times Zambian Super League champions moved fourth on the log table with nine points from four games.
ZESCO United trail league leaders Green Buffaloes with eight points with the latter having played two more games than the former.
Coach Numba Mumamba’s side put up a spirited second half performance that saw the hosts concede two goals.
“We are very excited with the victory. The players accounted for themselves very well unlike when we played Kafue Celtic. The team showed a lot of character of a champion that’s why we have bagged the three points.
“The overall performance from everyone was good. Everyone did what we expected them to do. That’s the more reason we dominated the game. We are very happy with the attitude. This is a great motivation as we prepare to face Nkana on Saturday.”
ZESCO United will this Saturday face Nkana the MTN Super League week seven fixture scheduled for Nkana stadium.
