ZESCO United opens their 2022/23 football season with a mouthwatering away fixture against Prison Leopards.
According to the Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) official fixtures, the former league champions opens their account against Leopards on August 20, 2022 before meeting current league champions, Red Arrows in a week two encounter.
With the Zambian league earmarked to start next month, ZESCO United have continued to shape up for the 2022/23 football campaign.
ZESCO United Head Coach Numba Mumamba is delighted with the announcement of the fixtures.
“We are happy especially that the fixtures are out. It will be easy for us to now plan because we now know who we will be facing in the opening matches. I am proud to say that our preparations are on course,” Mumamba said.
Meanwhile Mumamba expects a tough start to the season after ZESCO United was drawn against Prison Leopards.
“These two opening fixtures will be tricky as you know playing Prisons away is not easy. Our second fixture will be the same, but I believe we have assembled a squad capable of delivering maximum points.
We haven’t forgotten the six points Arrows collected from us last season. As such we will be aiming to make amends when we face them.”
