United U18 Head Coach Jackson Mwanza expressed happiness with the team’s performance in the opening game.
“We are happy with the victory from the first game despite arriving late. The boys were a bit fatigued, but we managed to play the because of the experience in the team. We did well despite lacking in some areas,” Mwanza said.
Meanwhile Mwanza believes the tournament will give the players a lot exposure and confidence.
“Our target is to win the tournament. That’s what we are aiming to achieve. However, the most important thing is to ensure that the players get the necessary experience and exposure. It is a tough tournament for the junior teams, but we will try our best.”
United unfortunately failed to replicate their earlier win over Misisi Youth Academy when they came up against Play It Forward this afternoon.
Mwanza’s side struggled to contain Play It Forward in the second game of the day losing by 1-2 margin.
