Former Zambia National team and ZESCO United striker, Jonas Sakuwaha has hailed ZESCO United Football Club management’s decision to strengthen the side ahead of the 2020/2021 FAZ/MTN Super League season.
Sakuwaha who spent four glittering years at the club has described the signing of Bruce Musakanya, Lazarus Phiri and Kelvin Kampamba as a step in the right direction.
“This team has played a lot of games in the last four seasons winning three titles in the process. As such it was crucial to bring in new faces especially with the departure of key players such as Lazarus Kambole.
Last season was difficult and it was clear that the boys were tired and needed some support. I am happy with the step management has taken to bring in new players,” Sakuwaha said.
The former Lorient and TP Mazembe striker has also backed Kampamba, Musakanya and Phiri to succeed at ZESCO United.
“Bruce is a fantastic player with a lot of experience both at domestic and international level. He will provide those killer passes that can be a nightmare for defenders.
Kampamba is another remarkable player who will make an instant impact in the team especially were goals are concerned. The guy can provide excellent passes and can score from free-kicks.”
The 2012 Africa Cup of Nations winning striker has further urged former Kansanshi Dynamos winger, Lazarus Phiri to shine at ZESCO United.
“He is a young and promising player and it’s his first time to play for a big team like ZESCO United. I think he has a great opportunity to show that he can play for any big team in the land. He is an exciting talent and a good addition to the side.”
Meanwhile Sakuwaha expects to see a more attack minded ZESCO United side ahead of the 2020/2021 FAZ/MTN Super League season.
“They have signed attack minded players in Bruce, Phiri and Kelvin. These are the type of players who will make life easier for Were, Makwata and Kalengo. I am positive they will score more goals than they did last season.”
ZESCO United have thus far signed three players since the opening of the football transfer window.

All the best, looking forward indeed
Good signing indeed, as far as I’m concerned, these three players will bring stability to the team.
My concern is on the technical bench, the technical bench also need to be restructured. In as much as the technical bench remains the same, the players will not perform to the fullest
Indeed it’s a very good move, all is needed now it to give them total support
Nice one, and can you help us by signing of Robin siame … With that things will be better at our team zesco United die hard.
I agree with Jonas
Thnk you so much for those words but Zesco United need to offload some old players out of the team to create room for those sighings.
