I WANT TO WIN TITLES: MUMAMBA SETS HIS OBJECTIVE AS HE BEGINS LIFE AT ZESCO UNITED

Eight-times Super League champions, ZESCO United have shifted their pre-season preparations from Ndola to Mongu, Western Province.

The team left Ndola yesterday morning and arrived in Mongu in the evenings. ZESCO United will have their first training session today at 15:00 with newly appointed head coach, Numba Mumamba leading the charge.

And newly appointed ZESCO United head coach, Numba Mumamba says winning titles remains his first priority at the club.

Mumamba has declared himself ready for what many think will be the biggest test of his managerial career.

“I am humbled to be given this chance to coach ZESCO United. The objective for me is to continue with the philosophy of the club which is about winning titles and playing competitive football.

This is a big team that has been consistent in the last decade. I know the expectations are very high especially with the good work my predecessor did. It is important to pick up from there and take the team to the next level.”

Mumamba expressed his desire to offer all the players a chance to prove themselves worth being at the club.

“What is important is for players to prove that they are worth being at this football club. I am not here to make speedy and radical decisions. I will give everyone the same opportunity so that they can prove themselves worth keeping.

Our additions to the squad will be based on the assessment we will make from the current setting.”

Mumamba has further appealed to young players at the club to work hard: “My philosophy has always revolved around mixing young and old players. I can see that there are already young players who are fighting to get first team football.

I will give them a chance to play but they must prove to us that they can play for this club by working hard and remaining disciplined. They will be given a chance to thrive.”

42-year-old Mumamba has further expressed disappointment at the club’s failure to qualify for CAF competitions.

“It is sad that we failed to qualify for CAF next seasons due to unforeseeable circumstances. However, it is important that we focus on getting back to our winning ways. The first target is of course to retain the title and qualify for CAF competitions.

What is crucial is for everyone to give their whole to this great football club. We will definitely bounce back.”

  1. I like the courage coach,I can’t wait to watch the first game with coach numba mumamba on the bench this time with Zesco united,

One thing I don’t want to see at the club is the changing captains every game, coach numba mumamba should chose one captain.
The last not the list the coach must improve on the coach player relationship not the situation where the coach want to be good to everyone that will make him to fail to perform.
All in all, wishing good as you start a new journey at the club.
