ZESCO United head coach, Numba Mumamba expects Zimbabwean international midfield maestro, Thabani Kamusoko to make a quick return to action when the 2020/2021 FAZ/MTN Super League returns.
Last year Kamusoko made a switch from Tanzanian giants, Young Africans to ZESCO United. The Zimbabwean midfielder made an instant impact scoring 3-goals before sustaining a terrible leg injury that has kept him out of the game for over 10 months.
The road to recovery has been gradual for the midfielder who had to undergo an operation. In the last two months, Kamusoko has been training with the main team as part of the recovery process.
Kamusoko was part of the team that set-up base in Mongu as part of the club’s pre-season preparations ahead of the start of the 2020/2021 Super League season.
The veteran midfielder has already made an impression on the gaffer: “Kamusoko is doing very fine and recovering very well. He showed great commitment and character in Mongu. He never backed out in training.
This showed us that he is back and all we need is to prepare him for the league and work on his fitness and metal strength. The latter is important especially after sustaining a bad leg injury. I can safely say he is doing fine and might even play the first game of the season,” Mumamba said.
Meanwhile Mumamba is elated by the level of commitment shown by ZESCO United young players during the pre-season trainings.
“The young ones are doing very well in training. They are working very hard and that is why we used them in the friendly so that they develop confidence and feel part of the team.
With great determination and commitment, they managed to win that game by 4-1. That experience is good for them and gives them a great feeling. They are pushing themselves in training and competing with the senior players. We will try to blend the senior and young players.”
