Atlas Mara Bank Managing Director, James Koni has commended ZESCO United Football Club for their dedication towards uplifting community lives.
Koni singled out the club’s continued support towards the five feeder teams as testament of the organizations belief to give back to the communities they serve.
He was speaking during the official jersey sponsorship contract renewal between ZESCO United Football Club and Atlas Mara Bank.
“Most of us are aware about the main ZESCO United team that plays at the iconic Levy Mwanawasa stadium, however, the club has been supporting a number of feeder teams spread across the country.
I am pleased to say all the feeder teams also benefit from this kit sponsorship as they also fully catered for,” he said.
Koni further reiterated Atlas Mara Bank quest to support and improve community lives through its corporate social responsibility.
“We strive to be responsive to the needs of society and communities at large, hence our desire to develop strong and relevant CSR programmes in partnership with like-minded organizations like ZESCO United Football Club that have a passion to uplift communities.”
He added that the partnership between Atlas Mara Bank and ZESCO United Football Club is intended to have a positive influence in communities where both institutions have a presence.
“This partnership is intended to have a wider reach into these communities and have a positive influence targeting especially the youths both girls and boys take up soccer and stay away from negative vices.
We also plan to partner with all the ZESCO United FC teams to undertake corporate social responsibility activities in the community around our pillars of: Health, Entrepreneurship, Financial Literacy and Education.”
Meanwhile ZESCO Limited Senior Manager – Corporate Affairs, Dr. John Kunda who spoke on behalf of the ZESCO United Football Club Chairman has applauded Atlas Mara Bank’s commitment and contribution towards the development of football in Zambia.
Dr. Kunda noted that AtlasMara Bank had gone out of its way to extend the jersey sponsorship agreement with ZESCO United at a time when the cost of doing business has become a huge nightmare especially after the outbreak of COVID – 19.
“In the wake of the COVID – 19 pandemic, many global organizations have been forced to activate cost cutting measures in order to stay afloat. However, Atlas Mara Bank has broken ranks with convention to make this generous contribution towards the growth of ZESCO United Football Club.
This is a clear testament of the Banks commitment towards uplifting football standards in the country,” Dr. Kunda said.
ZESCO United Football Club has secured a 1-year jersey sponsorship deal with Atlas Mara Bank for the 2020/2021 FAZ/MTN Super League season worth 2million Kwacha.
This deal is a renewal of the 2-year jersey sponsorship agreement that was secured in 2017 and came to an end at the conclusion of the 2019/2020 FAZ/MTN Super League season.
