MUMAMBA DEMANDS MORE FROM STRIKERS

ZESCO United head coach, Numba Mumamba has challenged club strikers to be more clinical in front of goal.

The eight-times FAZ/MTN Super League champions have played three games, scored two goals, both coming from defenders.

Adrian Chama scored ZESCO United’s only goal when the team beat Lumwana Radiants 0-1 in an away fixture played at the Independence stadium while Clement Mwape scored for the former champions when they drew 1-all against Napsa Stars in the opening fixture of the 2020/2021 league season.

Mumamba is concerned with the lack of goals from his front men: “We are creating a lot of chances but we are also failing to score. This was the story in Lumwana where we created a lot of opportunities but only scored one goal.”

The gaffer has pointed out a lack in composure as the biggest challenge facing ZESCO United strikers.

“We are in a hurry to shoot on target. There is need to have composure in front of goal before you shoot. We have invested a lot time working on our finishing so that we are ready for the next game against Kabwe Warriors.”

Mumamba has also expressed delight with the team’s attitude following their defeat to Forest Rangers.

“They responded very well and looked very confident in our third game against Lumwana Radiants. We controlled the game and dominated most of the proceedings. That is what we expect from ourselves especially that we are fighting to win the title.”
