ZESCO United this afternoon face a tricky Kabwe Warriors side in the FAZ/MTN Super League week four fixture scheduled for Levy Mwanawasa stadium, Ndola.
Club head coach, Numba Mumamba will be eyeing for his first home win after being denied that opportunity by Forest Rangers who beat the former league champions 0-1 in a week two encounter.
Mumamba’s side has picked up the momentum with an away 0-1 victory against Lumwana Radiants courtesy of Adrian Chama’s second half goal.
In the aftermath of the Lumwana game, Mumamba bemoaned the luck of goals from his front men.
The ZESCO United gaffer has spent the last two weeks sharpening his striking force in readiness for this afternoons encounter against the Railwaymen.
“There has been some good improvement from our striking force. We organised some friendlies for them as part of that assessment and they scored some great goals. It is a great improvement especially that we are able to create chances.
My only hope is that we replicate the kind of performance we witnessed during friendlies when we face Kabwe Warriors. We need to score early to unsettle them,” Mumamba said.
Mumamba has further warned his side not to underrate Kabwe Warriors: “This is an important game for us because we haven’t yet won a game at home. But we know that Kabwe Warriors are a strong side and they have showed that over the years. We are not going to underrate them.”
Meanwhile Mumamba is delighted at the prospect of playing today’s game in front of the ZESCO United supporters.
“The return of fans is good news to us and the team. Our supporters will be here to motivate us and to give us that extra morale that any team wants. We want to see them cheer the team from the first to the final whistle.”
