ZESCO United head coach Numba Mumamba has commended his players for beating Kabwe Warriors 2-0 in the FAZ/MTN Super League, week four fixture played on Saturday at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium.
Kabwe Warriors were put to the sword courtesy of two second half heart stopping goals from Kelvin Kampamba.
In his post-match comments, Mumamba congratulated the team for beating the Kabwe based side: “This was an evenly contested game against a tough Warriors side. What is crucial is the fact that we utilized the chances we created. This team is improving every day and I am positive we will get better with each passing game,” Mumamba said.
Mumamba described the teams win against Warriors as a huge motivation for the players as they prepare for their week five crucial away game against Zanaco football club.
“This win is a huge motivation to the players. We have won two games on the trot. This will give them a lot of confidence ahead the next game.
What is significant is to continue encouraging them to work hard so that we could continue with this winning spirit. Our aim is to perform better this season so that we get back to continental football.”
Mumamba hyped praise on Kampamba after the attacking midfielder scored his first brace for the season and for ZESCO United.
He further commended Kenyan International striker Jesse Were for the impact he brought into the game.
“The entire team performed very well. Kampamba was exceptional today especially for the two goals he scored. He is a fantastic player with great attributes. He can score at any angle. We want to see more of such from him.
Were brought some life into the game and I think his combination with Makwata added a lot of speed to our striking force.”
Victory over the Railwaymen saw ZESCO United move to 6th position on the league table with 7points from 4games. League leaders Green Eagles have 10 points, having played five games.
Both Buildcon and Forest Rangers have 8points with the former occupying 2nd position due to superior goal difference.
This week, ZESCO United will face Zanaco football club in a week five league encounter scheduled for Wednesday at the Sunset Stadium.
