ZESCO UNITED AIM TO CLOSE GAP WITH VICTORY OVER KITWE UNITED

The 2020/2021 FAZ/MTN Super League season is thus far turning out to be a tightly contested affair between the giants and minnows of the Zambian game.

It is early days though for any ardent football follower to make any predictions on who will be crowned champions with only six games thus far played.

However, these early days have also highlighted that this will be an entertaining season for the Zambian fans.

A glimpse at the current log standings unveils what has probably been an unscripted start to the season.

Current league leaders Green Eagle top the chat with 10 points followed by league newcomers Ndeni FC with 9points.

Former league champions, ZESCO United sit in 10th position with 8 points. The eight-times league champions are among the 8 clubs sharing 8 points apiece only separated by goal difference.

ZESCO United will tomorrow travel to Kitwe to face Kitwe United in a week seven FAZ/MTN league encounter scheduled for Garden Park.

The visitors will be gunning for maximum 3points having drawn and lost their last two fixtures.

This week, Green Buffaloes held ZESCO United to a 1-1 draw in a game played at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium, Ndola.

Coach Numba Mumamba’s side will be desperate to win tomorrow’s away encounter in order to break-away from the rest of the pack.

Mumamba may be tempted to name the same line-up that started against Green Buffaloes over the weekend.

Young Enock Sakala will be eyeing for a place in the first eleven after scoring his first goal for the club against the Army sponsored side.

Mumamba’s side will be without creative midfielder, Tafadzwa Rusike, who sustained an injury in the game against Zanaco Football Club.

ZESCO United have created numerous scoring chances in the last six games they have played only to be frustrated by a lack of good finishing.

Mumamba will be rallying his frontmen to be more ruthless in front of goal when TeamYaziko clashes with Buchi Boys.
