ZESCO UNITED TARGET INDENI AS DECEMBER BREAK APPROACHES

With only one game to go before the December break kicks in, FAZ/MTN Super League giants ZESCO United will this Saturday be eyeing a crucial 3 maximum points when they clash against newly promoted side, Indeni Football club in a week Ten fixture scheduled for Levy Mwanawasa stadium, Ndola.

The FAZ/MTN League season is earmarked to go on break on December 19, 2020 and resume on January 9, 2021.

ZESCO United have so far played 9 games, won 4 lost 2 drawn 3 and currently sit in 2nd position on the FAZ/MTN log table with fifteen points.

Buildcon Football Club currently tops the table with fifteen points but with a better goal difference.

It has been a sweltering start to the 2020/2021 league season with the so called football minnows trouncing over the traditional big power houses of the Zambian game.

ZESCO United’s next opponents, Indeni have been the biggest surprise package of the campaign.

Indeni Football Club have thus far played 8 games, and currently have twelve points, 2points behind 3rd placed Zanaco Football Club and 3points behind 2nd and 1st placed ZESCO United and Buildcon Football Club respectively.

On Wednesday, Indeni put up another spirited performance that saw them beat thirteen times league champions Nkana Football Club by two unanswered goals.

Last month Power Dynamos were the first big club to succumb at the hands of the newly promoted side by a single goal.

ZESCO United will be wary of the threat and damage Indeni has so far caused to their recent unsuspecting opponents.

Coach Numba Mumamba will be expecting his charges to go for a win before the league goes on recess.

Mumamba’s biggest nightmare so far has been the sides striking force which has struggled to consistently find the back of the net on several occasions.

The ZESCO United gaffer has sought help from 19-year-old Enock Sakala who has so far scored 2 goals for the former champions.

A congested line of fixtures has led to most, if not all the teams failing to register consistent victories.

With fatigue crippling in, Mumamba has opted for a constant rotation policy in order to give his players enough room to recover.

ZESCO United will be happy to have pocketed 7 points in the last 3 games. However, the 8-times league champions will also be aware of the importance of finishing on a high before December break.

With the Green Eagles game rescheduled to January 20, 2021, ZESCO United will put all their weight behind tomorrows encounter against Indeni Football Club.
