ZESCO United midfielder, Mukuka Chanda is relishing the prospect of winning his debut league title with the former Zambian league champions.
Chanda who made an electrifying move to the Zambian Super League giants, ZESCO United from the FAZ/Eden University division one side Gomes Football Club, has made a remarkable start to life at his newly found home.
He has been one of coach Numba Mumamba’s shining stars among the young players that have competed and fitted well in a new look ZESCO United side that boasts of youth and experience.
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has made his presence felt playing alongside exciting and more experienced midfielders, like John Ching’andu, Thabani Kamusoko and Kelvin Kampamba.
“It is an awesome experience to play for this football club. I was quite anxious about the prospects of playing first team football especially in the early days. However, I have worked very hard and in the end it has proved to be somewhat easy to get into the team,” Chanda said.
Chanda has credited his fast adjustment to life at the club to ZESCO United senior players who he says have had his back in good and bad times.
“Senior players have played a big role in my progression at the club. They are always there to offer a word of advice in good and bad times. I want to achieve a lot here and my biggest target is to win the league with ZESCO United Football Club.”
ZESCO United coach Numba Mumamba is full of praise for the midfield genius whom he coached at U-17 National level.
“This boy has been performing very well since he came here. He has brought stability in the midfield. I am positive he will continue adding value to this team going forward. I am very excited that we secured his services and am positive he will do remarkably well for the team, ” Mumamba said.
The ZESCO United gaffer expects Chanda to be one of the top players in the Zambian game.
“He is a young boy who needs a lot of guidance and support. What Chanda needs is encouragement so that he can utilize the potential that he has already shown. He has the potential to become one the best midfielders in the Zambian game. He is a reliable young man who I am sure will soon start scoring goals for us.”
