MUMAMBA EXPECTS A TIGHT RACE

ZESCO United coach Numba Mumamba expects the 2020/2021 FAZ/MTN Super League season to go down to the wire.

Mumamba who has seen his side collect 12 maximum points from four games has predicated a tough title race for all the competing teams.

“A team that wins four games from now will have an advantage of winning the league. It is quite a very tight league. I am happy my team is consistently picking up crucial points. The boys have grasped what we are telling them and that’s is paying off very well,” he said.

The ZESCO United gaffer has challenged his players to keep working hard and not leave any room for slipups.

“We have to continue doing what we are doing. We have to push each other in every aspect of the game. There is no time to relax.”

The ZESCO United gaffer has singled out Zanaco Football Club as a potential threat to his title dreams.

“Zanaco has been consistent in the second round and they continue to pick up crucial points at crucial moments. They have continued to give us a huge challenge and massive competition in our quest to win the league title.

We have to compete because Zanaco has been scoring many goals. It is important that we catchup in terms goal difference.”

ZESCO United currently top the league chat with 37 points having played 19 games whilst second placed Zanaco Football club have 34 points having played 20 games.

Meanwhile Mumamba expects a tough game when the Absa Cup title holders meet Kansanshi Dynamos in this year’s Absa cup championship.

Yesterday, ZESCO United where drawn against Kansanshi Dynamos in the Absa Cup quarter-finals to be held between the weekend of 13 and 14 March, at the MTN Woodlands stadium, Lusaka.

“It is a fair draw but also a tough one. These are teams that I give respect. It will be a very difficult game but we have to ensure that we prepare adequately so that we get to the next round,” Mumamba said.

ZESCO United will face Kansanshi Dynamos in the Absa cup quarter-final game on Saturday, 13 March 2021 at the MTN Woodlands stadium, Lusaka.
