ZESCO United head coach, Numba Mumamba has commended his side for beating Kabwe Warriors 1-2 in today’s FAZ/MTN Super League week 21 fixture played at the Godfrey Ucar Chitalu stadium in Kabwe.
The Ndola based league giants were pursuing three points at a venue that has in recent years proved to be a difficult hunting ground for them.
Prior to today’s game, Mumamba had indicated the importance of maintaining consistency after seeing his side sweep through four super league teams.
Kabwe Warriors were the 5th side to be put in their place in a space of only two weeks.
Goals from Enock Sakala and Adrian Chama was all Mumamba’s men needed to go back smiling to Ndola.
“We managed to force two goals. Kabwe warriors came at us in the second half but we managed to hold on. This is a very important result to us.
We have been crying for consistency for a long time. The beauty is that the team has shown this in the last five games where we have been able to collect 15 points,” Mumamba said.
Mumamba is well aware of the importance of keeping a distance between themselves and their closest rivals, Zanaco Football Club.
“We are delighted that we managed to get three points away from home. This means that we maintain our top slot on the league table with four points ahead of our closest rivals, Zanaco Football Club.”
Today’s victory means that ZESCO United have done a double on Kabwe Warriors after beating them 2-0 at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium, in the first round of the 2020/2021 league season.
