Kenyan international striker, Jesse Were says ZESCO United has what it takes to defend the 2020/2021 absa cup championship.
ZESCO United will this Saturday begin their absa cup title defense against Kansanshi Dynamos in the second quarter final encounter of the day, billed for the MTN Woodlands stadium, Lusaka.
Club striker, Were is convinced ZESCO United has what it takes to win a seventh absa cup title following their impressive run in the FAZ/MTN Super league.
“We have jelled well as a team in recent months and this has resulted in very good results for us. It is very crucial for us to replicate what we have done in the league to this competition.”
Meanwhile Were has hyped praise on ZESCO United’s young players whom he has described as a great addition to the team.
Were has been impressed with the players positive attitude in training and during games.
“These boys have been great to us. This team is full of experienced players but the young ones have settled in very well. They have brought competition to each one of us which is good for the development of the team.
They follow instructions from the coach and they listen to advice from senior players which I think has brought them a lot of success on the pitch,” he said.
And Were has urged Enock Sakala to continue working hard following his explosive start to life at ZESCO United.
“The boy is very good and he is learning very fast. He has also remained disciplined despite scoring very crucial goals for us. He listens to what the coach tells him. This is the reason why he has been playing well and scoring goals for us.”
ZESCO United will this Saturday face FAZ/Eden University National division one side, Kansanshi Dynamos in the absa cup game to be staged at the MTN Woodlands stadium.
