WE NEED TO MAKE AMENDS: MUMAMBA

ZESCO United coach Numba Mumamba has challenged his players to beat Nkwazi Football Club in today’s FAZ/MTN Super League week 28 fixture scheduled for Sunset stadium, Lusaka.

The league leaders face the Police Service sponsored side in an early kick-off while second placed Zanaco take to the field later in the day against Kabwe Warriors in another explosive encounter at the same venue.

Nkwazi cantered away with a 0-1 victory when the two sides met at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium earlier this season.

However, Mumamba has urged his players to make amends for the three points lose to Nkwazi when the two teams meet today.

“We expect a tough game against Nkwazi because they have been performing well in the league. This is why they managed to get three points when they faced us. However, we need to make amends for that defeat by collecting maximum points away from home.

It has to be 50/50 because they collected points from us as such we need to do the same so that we can move further on the log table,” he said.

With Zanaco and Forest Rangers having dropped points in their midweek games, ZESCO United have an opportunity to stretch the gap at the top of the league table.

The gaffer has however downplayed the significance of Wednesday’s results as the title race heats up.

“We have told our players to focus on our objective and not what others are doing. I think competing against our targets is very important for us and not looking at what others are doing or going through. This is crucial at this stage of the season.

The moment we start concentrating on results from other, we will lose focus. We need to fight our own battles because that’s the best way to compete in this league.”

ZESCO United will face Nkwazi without the services of Winstone Kalengo and Thabani Kamusoko due to injury.

“Those that were injured have recovered except for Kalengo who is still struggling. Kamusoko is still out but we are hopeful he will be back in the next game. The rest of the players are fit and ready to play,” Mumamba disclosed.
