ZESCO United will tomorrow renew their rivalry when they face this years Absa cup champions, Lusaka Dynamos in the FAZ/MTN Super League week 19 fixture to be played at Nkoloma stadium, Lusaka.
This will be the third time the two sides will be meeting this season after ZESCO United edged out Lusaka Dynamos 2-0 in the first meeting of the season while the latter cantered away with the league cup title defeating the former champions on penalties.
The league leaders will be hoping to make amends following their recent two loses at the hands of Nkana and Power Dynamos respectively.
Coach Numba Mumamba expects his team to get back to winning ways and ensure that they consolidate the gap at the top of the league table.
“They need to refocus again especially after going 10 consecutive victories and losing twice in a row. Everyone thought all was well, but you always know that at some point there would be setbacks.
Our message to the player is simple. Forget about the two loses and focus on rising again by winning our next three games. Winning the next three games will be crucial.”
The ZESCO United gaffer says winning the 2020/2021 league title remains top on the club’s agenda.
“To us winning the championship remains the objective. The attitude from everyone in camp has been very good. They are putting in everything so that we win the season.
I am happy that all the players that were injured are back and ready to play and hopefully they give us their best.”
The ZESCO United boss also disclosed that the team has been working on strategies of how to unlock sides that have a habit of parking the ‘bus’.
“Our recent two defeats came at the hands of teams that didn’t want to play an open game. They all decided to sit back and close spaces making it difficult for our team to penetrate. We have been working on ways of how to unlock such defenses. We need to find ways of tiring our opponents so that we can create goal scoring opportunities.” Mumamba concluded.
