ZESCO United coach Numba Mumamba has praised his team for beating Kitwe United 4-0 in the FAZ/MTN Super League week 21 rescheduled game played yesterday at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium, Ndola.
Kenyan International striker Jesse Were scored a hattrick taking his number of goals to 100 since joining the team in 2015.
Veteran striker Winstone Kalengo scored ZESCO United’s third goal in a match that the hosts dominated from start to finish.
In his post-match comments, Mumamba commended his side for collecting maximum points against the Buchi Boys.
“This is an exciting win for us. I think we were playing a team that we can call spoilers. Kitwe United is a team that you don’t underrate. We told our players not to underrat them but to treat them like any other big team in the league,” he said.
Mumamba was particularly impressed with the team’s character after losing 3-0 to Prison Leopards.
“We showed the character right from the kickoff which saw us get four goals. This is a good result going into the international break. We just need two points to be crowned champions.”
The ZESCO United gaffer expects his side to take all the remaining games seriously despite only needing two points to canter away with the title.
“The league is still on and I think it will be business as usual for us when we come back from the international break. We need to prepare adequately for the next four remaining games.”
Mumamba has further congratulated Kenyan international striker, Jesse Were for scoring a hattrick and 100th goal for the club.
“This is very important for Were and also for the entire team. He has been on top of his game in the last two fixtures which very crucial for the team. He is a type of player that this team depends on. We will keep on encouraging him so that he can continue delivering for the club.
We have young Enock Sakala and Chitiya Mususu whom we think will learn a lot from players like Were.”
