19-year-old John Chishimba is living a dream at the country’s most prestigious football club, ZESCO United.
Chishimba a product of the ZESCO United youth team is among a horde of young stars whose dreams of playing for the eight times Super League champions have come to fruition.
The ZESCO United left full back has been in tantalizing form featuring in the last three games that the league leaders have played.
“It is an honour to play for this football club because that is what every young player wants to achieve. When you are playing for the ZESCO United youth team, the goal is to become a top player and break into the main team,” Chishimba said.
Like most of the young players who have penetrated through the ZESCO United senior team courtesy of Numba Mumamba’s philosophy, Chishimba doesn’t want to waste this rare opportunity to become a future star player of the club.
“I wish to thank the coach for giving me and the rest of the young players an opportunity to play for the main team. I didn’t expect this to happen soon. The coach has been a very good motivator to everyone. He is always encouraging us to work hard and not to give up especially when things don’t go our way.”
Chishimba has further thanked ZESCO United’s senior players for the support during the 2020/2021 league season.
“The senior players are very instrumental in our progression. I am learning quite a lot from everyone. It is also very motivating to play alongside some of the young players I played with at youth level like Enock Sakala and Samuel Sikaonga.”
ZESCO United currently lead the league table with 61 points and only need two points to be crowned champions of the 2020/2021 league season.
