ZESCO United coach Numba Mumamba has described yesterdays 2-all draw against Power Dynamos as part of preparations for Sunday’s FAZ/MTN Super League clash against Napsa Stars.
The Ndola based league giants yesterday hosted Power Dynamos in a practice match held at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium, Ndola.
With only 5’ minutes of the first half played, John Makwata cut through the Power Dynamos defense before unleashing a powerful shot that went passed between the legs of the visitors goalkeeper.
ZESCO United defender Samson Mkandawire got himself on the scoresheet with the easiest of tap-ins to double the lead for the hosts.
In the second half, both sides made a wholesale of changes in order to give other players an opportunity to have a feel of the game.
Power Dynamos came back stronger, taking the game to ZESCO United with Chamanga and Musonda leading the charge upfront.
The visitors got a lifeline in the 50’ minute courtesy of a Kennedy Musonda goal.
Power Dynamos sealed the comeback in the 72′ minute with Luke Chamanga’s well taken free kick which ended up at the back of the net.
In his post-match comments, Mumamba expressed happiness with his sides performance.
“This was an important practice match for us especially that we are trying to assess players that haven’t had enough game time and those that are just coming back from injuries. It has given us a good picture on guys who haven’t been active this season. They have shown that they are important to the squad and they have shown the character too.”
Mumamba also disclosed that the friendly game against Power Dynamos has given his technical bench an idea of the players who will start against Napsa Stars
“This game is important in many aspects as it has also given us a good idea of players who will make the final squad when we face Napsa Stars on Sunday,” he said.
ZESCO United will this Sunday host relegation haunted Napsa Stars in a crucial fixture with the former guaranteed the league title provided they beat the visitors.
