ZESCO United will this Sunday face Ndola based league side Buildcon on matchday 34 at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium, Ndola in what will be the last game of the 2020/21 league season.
The Zambian Super League champions elect will further be officially handed the FAZ/MTN league title which they lost a season ago to Nkana.
Sunday’s final game of the season will be spiced up with the return of ZESCO United’s most decorated player and goalkeeper, Jacob Banda who decided to take off his gloves early this year, marking the end of a 16-year fruitful affair with the nine times league champions.
Banda who has since taken up a new career path will be accorded few minutes between the sticks to relive what has been a successful journey with the champions, winning 21 trophies in the process.
ZESCO United coach Numba Mumamba will be eyeing for a triumphant close to the season when his side face Buildcon.
“We will take the next game against Buildcon seriously so that we can stretch the lead at the top of the table even further. People should be able to see a distinction between the league winners and the second placed team.”
Mumamba will further be happy to close this seasons chapter with a perfect sendoff gift for Banda who has already attained legendary status at the club.
ZESCO United have opened up a 14point gap at the top of the league table having accumulated 68 points with second placed Zanaco Football Club sitting on 54 points.
