ZESCO United Head Coach Numba Mumamba expects his charges to beat Royal Leopards of ESwatini in tomorrow’s CAF Champions League return leg match scheduled for the Levy Mwanawasa stadium Ndola.
The Zambian Super League champions will be aiming to make amends in tomorrow’s encounter after narrowly losing 1-0 to the visitors in a match played in Eswatini on Saturday last week.
Speaking today at the pre-match press conference, the ZESCO United gaffer is delighted with the team’s preparations for tomorrows match.
“We have done our homework, we have worked on our finishing because that was the biggest area of concern. We are hoping that we do much better in front of goal so that we can qualify to the next stage of the competition,” Mumamba said.
Meanwhile Mumamba expects Leopards to park the bus in order to frustrate ZESCO United.
“I am sure they will park the bus to avoid allowing goals especially that they saw how we played in Eswatini. They will not want to open their backline while hoping to catch us on counter attacks. Our strategy will be to attack but also to be extremely mindful of not opening ourselves at the back.”
ZESCO United striker Jesse Were is positive the team will put up an improved performance.
“We have been working hard especially on our finishing. Everyone in the team is looking forward to this encounter and knows what is expected of each one of us. We will do our best to ensure that we win.”
Royal Leopards coach, Edwin Matsebule is confident his side will withstand the pressure from ZESCO United.
“We know the quality of ZESCO United. They gave us a hard time at home so we are expecting them to do more than what they did in Eswatini. However, we have planned for them. We won’t sit back and allow them to come at us. We will fight till the end.”
ZESCO United will tomorrow take on Royal Leopards of Eswatini in the CAF Champions League second leg preliminary stage encounter scheduled for the Levy Mwanawasa stadium.
