Kenyan international and ZESCO United striker Jesse Jackson Were expects a tough game when the league champions come up against Power Dynamos on Sunday.
Last week ZESCO United rekindled their hopes of defending the league title by beating Buildcon 2-3 in a week 13 game staged at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium, Ndola.
The champions have endured what has perhaps been a tough start to this year’s league campaign with Army sponsored Green Buffaloes sitting firmly at the summit of the Zambian Super League table.
Meanwhile ZESCO United’s opponents Power Dynamos have undergone a miserable start to the season having spent a few weeks at the bottom end of the league table.
Like ZESCO United, Power Dynamos have managed to dust themselves off in recent weeks winning three games in row.
Last season ZESCO United beat Power Dynamos 2-1 at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium and narrowly lost by a goal when the Kitwe based giants hosted the league champions.
ZESCO United striker Were expects his side to carry the day: “It was important for us to get maximum points against Buildcon. This week we are back in training and everyone is motivated due to last Sunday’s victory.
“Everyone in the team is focused and fighting for a position in the game against Power Dynamos. There is some great positive energy in the team. It will be massive for us to get maximum points.”
ZESCO United will try to ride on home advantage when the two giants of the Zambian game clash on Sunday.
“We will be home as such we will need to get maximum points. However, Power Dynamos has a good team and good technical bench. They have struggled in the recent past but they have also recently galvanized themselves winning three games in a row. This will be an entertaining game,” Were said.
ZESCO United will this Sunday host Power Dynamos in the MTN Super League week 14 fixtures scheduled for the Levy Mwanawasa stadium, Ndola.
