A brace from Frederick Mulambia is what Power Dynamos needed to end their winless streak at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium against ZESCO United.
Today ZESCO United lost 1-2 to the Kitwe based super league giants in an entertaining MTN Super League weak 14 fixture held at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium, Ndola.
ZESCO United were the first to break the deadlock in the 4’ minute with a Spencer Sautu calmly taken goal that put the hosts ahead.
Sautu’s goal seemed to have reinvigorated the visitors who pinned the hosts in most part of the first half.
In the 18’ minute Dickson Ngwenya almost leveled matters for the visitors but Ian Otieno was having a great day between the sticks.
Kennedy Musonda was the second to unlock a ferocious shot that Otieno thwarted.
Power Dynamos did most of the talking in the first half but Otieno proved the stumbling block for all their efforts.
The second half saw ZESCO United players return with great ambition of getting a second goal.
However, Power Dynamos Mulambia turned the tide upside down with a great header that ricocheted off the upright to end up at the back of the net.
In the 76’ minute Mulambia completed his brace sinking ZESCO United at home for the first time since 2012.
ZESCO United coach Numba Mumamba bemoaned the teams luck of concentration at the back.
“We conceded two goals today due to a luck in concentration. We could have prevented the two goals, but a lack of concentration landed us in trouble. The application of everyone was fine.
“Our form has been below our expectation as a team. This is what we are worried about. A team like ours can’t be dropping points in this way.
“We can rewrite our script before we reach the halfway mark of the season. We still have a chance to play in the Absa Cup competition provided we win the upcoming fixtures,” Mumamba said.
ZESCO United will this Wednesday face Lusaka Dynamos in an away fixture to be played in Lusaka.
