ZESCO United Head Coach Numba Mumamba has urged his side to start the second round of the league season on high by beating Red Arrows in tomorrow’s MTN Super League week 18 fixture scheduled for Edwin Mboela stadium, Lusaka.
Mumamba is elated by the return of Kelvin Kampamba and Logic Chingandu when the league champions clash against Red Arrow.
“We are excited with the return of Kampamba and Logic because they give us selection options. Remember that Arrows are in good form. They have continued to perform well.
“As such we need to have the legs and the manpower to withstand them when we face them tomorrow, Mumamba added.
And Mumamba has bemoaned the absence of some key players ahead of Saturdays clash.
“I can confirm that Adrian Chama is out with an injury. Edward Lungu is equally out with an illness and Kalengo is just returning but he isn’t fully fit.
“John Chinga’ndu is another player who we will miss the game as he is just returning to training after an illness.”
The ZESCO United gaffer has remained confident ahead of the Arrows game despite losing some key players.
“It is our aim to start on a high despite the injuries that we have in the team. We need to start collecting maximum points so that we can catch up with the league leaders.
Arrows are in good form and we respect them. However, consistency will be key in us defending the league title. We struggled a lot in the first round because we hardly won three games in a row,” Mumamba said.
Meanwhile Mumamba says the arrival of former Trident striker, Pedro Miguel is a boost to the squad.
“Miguel is a good addition to the squad. We are expectant that he will make a huge contribution to the side. However, we are not putting too much pressure on him because he needs to settle.
Miguel has come to a big club as such he will need all the support needed to for him to start delivering for the team.”
