A 69’ minute goal from ZESCO United’s attacking midfielder, John Chinga’ndu ensured that the league defending champions maintained bragging rights over their fiercest rivals, Indeni.
ZESCO United beat Indeni 1-0 in the MTN Super League week 21 fixture to reduce the gap at the summit of the league table to 2points.
The Ndola based league giants will be hoping that Red Arrows slip up in this afternoons fixture when they face army sponsored Green Buffaloes at the MTN Woodlands stadium.
ZESCO United have thus far won three consecutive matches, the longest run they have thus maintained in this year’s league campaign.
Coach Numba Mumba will be hoping that this winning run is sustained with the team hosting Kafue Celtic on Saturday next week.
Club attacking midfielder and the games Man of the Match, Mukuka Chanda expressed happiness with yesterday’s victory.
“It was a difficult match for us because Indeni proved a very difficult opponent. We are happy that we managed them very well and got the goal.
“We regrouped at half time and the coach advised us to be patient on target so that we could get that all important goal,” Chanda said.
Yesterdays victory ensured that ZESCO United maintained second position on the league table with 37 points from 21 games whilst Red Arrows have 39 points from 20 games.
