Zambian Super League defending champions ZESCO United have ascended to second position on the league table following Saturdays 2-0 win against Konkola Blades.
79’ and 89’ minute goals from Thabani Kamusoko and Enock Sakala was all the hosts needed to dislodge Green Eagles who drew 0-0 with Indeni.
ZESCO United head coach Numba Mumamba believes additions made to the squad during the transfer window have been the biggest difference.
“The team spirit has been fantastic as you can see from the last three games. I think we have stabilized more owing to the signings we made in the transfer window. These players have brought stability and competition to the team,” Mumamba said.
Mumamba has attributed Saturday’s victory to the positive attitude shown by ZESCO United players.
“I wasn’t perturbed with the score line in the first 45 minutes. Konkola Blades came to play the game and they defended with 5 players at the back.
“However, this was a game we controlled from start to finish. We told our players to attack from the wings especially that the visitors defended in great numbers.
“I give a lot credit to my players because they kept the momentum from start to finish until we got the goals. I was sure we were going to score.”
ZESCO United will this week shift focus to the country’s only prestigious cup competition Absa in which they are scheduled to face Green Eagles in the quarter finals at the Arthur Davies stadium on Saturday.
