Ndola, (Wednesday,30th March 2022)– ZESCO United Football Club is saddened to learn of the passing of FIFA and CAF Medical Officer, Dr. Joseph Kateule Kabungo.
ZESCO United acting Chief Executive Officer, Milupi Libi has described Kabungo’s passing as a big loss to the entire global football community.
“Today football has lost a dedicated servant of the beautiful game. African football has lost treasured human resource. Dr Kabungo’s passing has robbed Zambia of a committed member of the FIFA and CAF Medical Committee.
“The ZESCO United family will remember Dr. Kabungo for his immeasurable contribution to the growth of the club when he served as a member of the Finance, Administration and Technical subcommittee (FAT) of the Board of ZUFC from the year 2018.
“On behalf of ZESCO United Football Club management, I wish to extend our deepest condolences to the Kabungos, friends and loved ones. It is my hope that, in some way, our words of support may help bring some peace and solace in this time of sadness,” Libi said.
Dr Kabungo died yesterday in Nigeria where he was on duty as Medical Officer for the FIFA World Cup qualifying match between Nigeria and Ghana.
