MUMAMBA CALLS FOR GOOD OFFICIATING AS LEAGUE DRAWS TO A CLOSE

With only four matches to go before the end of the Zambian Super League season, ZESCO United are still sticking to the origin script of winning the title.

Second on the league table, 5 points behind Red Arrows, the league defending champions are not leaving any room for failure.

ZESCO United Head Coach Numba Mumamba believes the team is ready for the remaining games but hopes for better match officiating.

“This is the most critical stage of any league. This is the part where match officials need to be at their best. Unnecessary mistakes from officials can cost any team massive points. Referees are human and they do make mistakes. However, we expect good officiating so that the best team wins the title. That’s our only appeal to the officials.”

And the ZESCO United gaffer has declared his charges ready for Sunday’s showdown against Power Dynamos.

“The preparations are going very well. All the players who had some knocks are back apart from Solomon who has a slight injury.

This is a very important game because we lost to Power Dynamos in the first round. We are going there to make amends and to fight for maximum points so that we can sustain the pressure on Red Arrows.”

Mumamba says attitude from his players will be key to beating Power Dynamos at Arthur Davies Stadium.

“Our attitude should be positive from the first and last whistle because we are taking this game seriously. With the right attitude, right approach and good tactical discipline, I think we can go there and carry the day.”

Mumamba believes victory on Sunday will mount pressure on Red Arrows who are only playing their week 31 match on Wednesday against Kafue Celtics.

“Arrows will be under pressure on Wednesday provided we win on Sunday. Remember a victory for us against Power Dynamos will reduce the gap to 2 points.”

ZESCO United will this Sunday face Power Dynamos in the MTN Super League week 31 game scheduled for Kitwe’s Arthur Davies stadium.
