SAUTU, MAYEMBE AND KAMPAMBA HOPING TO HELP ZAMBIA BEAT IVORY COAST

Zambia will this evening take on Ivory Coast in an away mouthwatering 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier match scheduled for the Stade Yamoussoukro.

Kick-off is set for 21H00 (CAT) with the match to be beamed live on ZNBC TVI, Top star platforms and SuperSport(credit FAZ).

It will be the first time the Chipolopolo Boys will face the Elephants since Zambia’s first ever Africa Cup of Nations triumph 10-years ago.

Zambia beat Ivory Coast 8-7 on penalties to be crowned African Champions in the 2012 AFCON edition held in Gabon and Equatorial Guinea.

This will be a titanic clash for two sides that on paper are thus far seen as favorites to dominate Group H although Ivory Coast have already qualified for the finals being the competitions hosts.

ZESCO United has contributed three experienced players to the Zambian squad which will be hoping to silence the Elephants on home soil.

Talented ZESCO United attacking midfielder, Kelvin Kampamba will be hoping to get a feel of today’s explosive encounter by securing a place in this highly talented Zambian side.

Like Kampamba, Spencer Sautu is another exciting talent that Chipolopolo Coach Aijosa Asanovic will look to for supply.

ZESCO United defender Shemmy Mayembe will be hoping to rekindle and strengthen his relationship with the former Africa Cup Champions by providing crucial cover at the back.

Zambia is in Group H alongside Ivory Coast, Comoros and Lesotho.
