Zambian Super League giants, ZESCO United will start their preseason preparations on Monday next week ahead of the 2022/2023 football season.
The nine (9) times super league giants will be pressed to make amends following a disappointing season which saw them abdicate the summit of the Zambian game.
ZESCO United will be gunning for the league title and an improved performance in CAF competitions.
The team regroups on Monday before shifting base to Mongu on 26 June for a 10-day pre-season camp.
It has been a busy two-weeks for some of the club’s star-players who have been involved in the Côte d’Ivoire 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Shemmy Mayembe, Spencer Sautu, Gregory Sanjase, Kelvin Kampamba and Enock Sakala will today begin their journey from Lusaka to Ndola following yesterday’s crucial 2-1 victory against Comoros.
Meanwhile South Sudanese and ZESCO United defender Peter Maker Manyang will tomorrow rally his countrymen as they take on Mali on matchday two (2) of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
Manyang will be expected to join the ZESCO United squad ahead of the Mongu camp.
Kenyan international striker Vincent Oburu will be relishing to begin his full season with the nine (9) times league champions.
Like Oburu, ZESCO United shot stopper Ian Otieno will be making his trip from Kenya to Zambia ahead of the Mongu trip.
ZESCO United head coach Numba Mumamba will be hoping to assemble a strong squad ahead of the new football season.
