TRANSFERS ELATE MUMAMBA

ZESCO United Head Coach Numba Mumamba is happy with the signings made so far by the club since the opening of the transfer window.

The former league champions have been on a shopping spree which has seen the capture of some of the finest talent the game has to offer.

Mumamba is confident the new arrivals will bring quality, depth and competition to his squad.

“We want them to come and add value to the team. Last season we didn’t perform to the expectation of everyone. That’s the more reason we thought of bringing in some new players that will help us achieve our objective this coming season.

“The seven players we have signed have come with good experience especially at international level because we will be playing in both the league and CAF Confederation Cup.”

Meanwhile the ZESCO United gaffer expects team selection headaches once the 2022/23 league season begins.

“It will be very competitive in terms of team selection. I think there will be stiff competition between the players that we have brought in and those that have been here for a while.

“This will give us headaches especially when selecting the team to represent the country and the club. However, we will pick players on merit like always,” Mumamba said.

And Mumamba expects ZESCO United young stars to compete for places with senior players.

“The young players have the talent and we know they will compete with the senior players. That’s why we have kept them and brought in a few young ones so that they can blend in with. We need to make a balance between young and old players.

“They have shown the character and commitment. The response is overwhelming, and we are happy with what we have seen so far. Am sure when we are back in Ndola everyone will be in the right condition to start the league,” he added.
