CHIPOLOPOLO CROWNED 2022 COSAFA CHAMPIONS

Zambia claimed their sixth Cosafa title following last nights 1-0 victory over the Brave Warriors of Namibia in a thrilling Cup final played at the famous Moses Mabhida stadium, South Africa.

With only 10’ minutes before the close of extra time, Albert Kangwanda unlocked a ferocious shot that rebounded off the post into Namibia goalkeeper Edward Maova before finding its way into the net for an unfortunate own goal.

Both Zambia and Namibia failed to find a breakthrough in normal time taking the match into extra time.

Zambia denied the Brave Warriors a victory in a match which saw both teams create numerous scoring chances.

The Chipolopolo Boys now equal Zimbabwe’s record of six Cosafa titles after last night’s victory.

Meanwhile ZESCO United and Chipolopolo attacking midfielder, Kelvin ‘Kemuka’ Kampamba was voted COSAFA Player of the Tournament.

Kampamba played a leading role in Zambia’s qualification to the finals registering a brace in hotly contested match against the Lions of Teranga, Senegal.

Zambia beat Senegal 4-3 to set up a date in the finals against the Brave Warriors.
