MUWOWO: I AM HAPPY TO BE HERE

2019 Zambian Super League Player of the Year Austin Muwowo, is eager to open a new career chapter following his move from South African side Orlando Pirates to ZESCO United.

Muwowo moved to Pirates in 2019 after an impressive season which saw the 26-year-old winger voted Zambian Player of the Year.

The former Forest Rangers winger however, couldn’t command enough game time at Pirates subsequently leading both parties to call it a day.

Muwowo is now back home where his career blossomed and later catapulted him to continental stardom attracting the attention of several suitors from South Africa.

The news of Muwowo’s availability quickly caught the attention of Zambian league giants ZESCO United leading the latter and former to enter in a two-year marriage.

Last week ZESCO United announced the signing of Muwowo who now becomes the eighth player to move to the club since the opening of the transfer window in July this year.

“It is nice to join a big club like ZESCO United because they are the biggest team in Zambia. It is exciting for me to be here because this team wants to win trophies every year and they want to be play at the highest level in CAF.

“My mission here is to work extra hard and contribute towards the success of the team,” Muwowo said.

Muwowo has already started adjusting to life at ZESCO United after featuring in the Four Club Preseason tournament and a friendly which was organized by the club in partnership with Red Arrows.

Having successfully negotiated a two-year contract with the former league champions, Muwowo is currently battling for match fitness.

“I am working on my match fitness as you know I have not been playing football for a while now. I am pushing hard in training to get maximum fitness. I am positive I will get back to where am supposed to be.”
