ZESCO UNITED CLINCH AZAM FRIENDLY

Zambian Super League giants, ZESCO United have secured an international friendly match against Tanzanian based side Azam football club .

The nine-times Zambian league champions are expected to fly into Tanzania on Saturday ahead of Sundays game.

ZESCO United Chief Executive Officer, Charles Kalala is delighted with the gesture extended to the club by Azam football club management.

“It is an excellent opportunity for us to play one of the biggest teams in Tanzania ahead of the coming football season. This invitation will further give our technical bench an opportunity to assess the team before we start both the league and CAF Confederation cup campaign

“ZESCO United management wishes to thank Azam football club management for this priceless gesture extended to our club,” Kalala said.

Meanwhile ZESCO United Head Coach Mumamba Numba is elated by the development.

“We are delighted and feel this friendly comes at the right time especially that we had challenges in securing friendlies outside the country. Our target was to play at least 3-4 international friendlies in order to prepare for Confederations Cup.

“We are grateful to Azam for coming to our aid by inviting us for this important match. It will go a long way and give us a good picture in terms of how ready we are.”

Azam finished third in the 2021/22 Tanzanian Premier League season in which Young Africans emerged champions ahead of second placed Simba.
