ZESCO United Head Coach Mumamba Numba has hyped praise on his side following yesterday’s 2-1 victory over Lumwana Radiants in match played at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium, Ndola.
The Ndola based league giants put up a five-star performance before a sizeable crowd that thronged the Levy Mwanawasa stadium.
A 51’ minute cross from Shemmy Mayembe was perfectly headed back into the Lumwana Radiants penalty box by Chanda Mukuka before Collins Sikombe tapped in the hosts first goal.
Enock Sakala doubled the lead following a Clement Mwape’s long range searching ball which was misjudged by Muleta Mubiana whose effort to clear the lines left Wambanji helpless only for the 20-year-old striker to pounce, beating three players in the process before slotting home a second for the hosts.
In his post-match comments, Numba commended his side for collecting maximum points against a resolute Lumwana Radiants side.
“A very important victory on our part especially that it’s the first victory at home since the league started. This will motivate us ahead of the next game against Green Eagles. I think we saw a lot of effort from everyone who played today.
“I am happy we controlled the game despite playing a tactically disciplined Lumwana side especially when they were defending. They were compact which took a lot of time for us to unlock them.”
Numba believes yesterdays win will boost the team’s confidence ahead of Saturdays clash against Green Eagles.
“Getting two consecutive wins is a huge morale booster for us. We just need to build on the two games that we have.”
The ZESCO United gaffer believes Kizito Kezironi earned his place in the starting eleven following his impressive showing against Nkwazi and Red Arrows.
“I think from what we saw in the previous game against Nkwazi, Kizito showed great commitment. He was excellent in that game that is why we thought of starting him today. He showed his capability in the way he controlled the midfield.
“This exactly what we expect from our new guys and am positive once they settle all will be well. We are very with Kizito,” Numba said.
Meanwhile Numba bemoaned his sides inability to turn chances into goals:” Our striking force is one great area of concern. We are not doing too well in the final third of the pitch. Thats were we need to concentrate on and improve.”
