ZESCO UNITED SECURE MAZEMBE FRIENDLY

Zambian Super League giants, ZESCO United will next week Tuesday face Congolese side TP Mazembe in a friendly match scheduled for the Levy Mwanawasa stadium, Ndola.

ZESCO United will be hoping to use Tuesday’s game as a litmus test ahead of their 2022/23 CAF Confederation Cup opener scheduled for next month.

Like ZESCO United, TP Mazembe will be using the match to prepare for the 2022/23 CAF Champions League.

The five-times CAF Champions League winners have thus far played Kabwe Warriors and are expected to face Prison Leopards tomorrow at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium.

With so many new faces in his squad, Mumamba Numba has been yearning to face stronger opponents ahead of the CAF Confederation Cup.

Prior to the start of the Zambian season, ZESCO United had the privilege of playing Tanzanian giants Azam FC as part of their preseason preparations.

Numba will be salivating for Tuesday’s friendly as it will present the best-case scenario of how prepared ZESCO United are for continental football.

The last time ZESCO United faced Mazembe was in the 2019/20 CAF Champions League campaign with the former losing home and away legs 1-2 and 3-1 respectively.

ZESCO United have regained their momentum in the Zambia league, recording back-to-back victories against Nkwazi and recently Lumwana Radiants.

The 2020/21 league champions will this Saturday date Green Eagles in the MTN FAZ week four fixture scheduled for Choma.
