ZESCO United’s chances of progressing to the Group Stage of the CAF Confederations Cup received a boost following Sunday’s crucial barren draw against South African side, Royal AM.
The nine-times Zambian Super League champions put up a stellar performance in the first leg of the second preliminary round of qualifiers dominating the hosts in most part of the game.
Mumamba Numba’s side could have easily walked away with more than three goals had it not been for a lack of clinical finishing.
Numba will be sweating to ensure that Kenyan prolific striker Vincent Oburu is fit for Saturday’s crucial game.
In his post-match comments, Numba bemoaned his sides lack of sharpness in front of goal.
“Our greatest concern is the striking force because we have created a lot of chances, but we are failing to get the goals. We controlled much of the first half of the game although dynamics changed in the second half.
“The soothing part is that we didn’t conceded. Otherwise it would have been better to get a win. We have a lot of work as we go back. We need to work hard and ensure that we win the return leg.”
ZESCO United will be hoping to find their killer instincts on Saturday when they host Royal AM of South Africa at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium, Ndola in an afternoon fixture.
