ZESCO UNITED HOST KANSANSHI DYNAMOS AFTER NAPSA DEFEAT

It has been a traumatizing week for ZESCO United players and their faithful followers following back-to-back defeats in the local league and in the CAF Confederations Cup.

ZESCO United were on Sunday eliminated from Africa’s second coveted competition by South African side, Royal AM in a 1-1 draw played in Ndola at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium.

Seeking redemption from Sunday’s CAF disappointment, ZESCO United had an opportunity to save face when they came up against Napsa Stars in the Zambian Super League.

With the departure of former club head coach Mumamba Numba still fresh on the players’ minds, Alfred Lupiya the man anointed to serve as interim manager failed to rouse ZESCO United to a victory against the pensioners.

Watched by a sizeable crowd, Perry Mutapa’s side, steamed past ZESCO United with a 2-1 victory.

This is a match that saw dependable attacking midfielder, Kelvin Kampamba red carded for what the referee deemed as unsporting behavior.

ZESCO United also lost Kelvin Kampumbu due to an injury while Vincent Oburu scored his debut goal of the season after being on the sidelines due to an injury.

Lupiya and his charges will need to quickly digest Sundays and Wednesday defeats when they come up against Kansanshi Dynamos on Saturday at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium in Ndola.
