ZESCO United will be hunting for a rare victory on Saturday when they face Zanaco in the MTN Super League week twelve fixture scheduled for Sunset stadium, Lusaka.
Sunset stadium has in recent years proved a tough hunting ground for the nine times league champions.
The Ndola based league outfit have in the last three seasons failed to snatch a victory at the Bankers nest.
In their last three meetings, Zanaco has beaten ZESCO United twice with the last encounter ending in 1-1 draw.
ZESCO United acting head coach Alfred Lupiya is expected to spend the next three days cementing his backline which looked wobbly in last Saturday’s 3-2 victory against Buildcon.
United conceded twice against Buildcon due to what Lupiya described as school boy mistakes from his side.
“We won the game but didn’t play well. We made some school boy mistakes something which destabilized our play. The good thing is that we collected maximum points against a confident side,” he said.
ZESCO United are missing the services of club deadly striker Vincent Oburu who is currently out with an injury.
Clement Mwape, Collins Sikombe, Mukuka Chanda sealed the victory for ZESCO United against Buildcon.
ZESCO United will be hoping to build on last Saturdays win when they come face to face with the Bankers.
Both giants have had a shaky start to the season winning only two in the last five games they have played.
Zanaco shook off their recent barren draw against Power Dynamos and a 1-2 defeat at the hands of Green Eagles with a 1-2 victory over Napsa Stars on Saturday.
ZESCO United on the other hand have emerged from a frustrating 1-1 and 0-0 draw against MUZA FC and Kabwe Warriors respectively beating Buildcon 3-2
Victory against Zanaco will see ZESCO United move inches towards the league leaders Red Arrows and second placed Green Eagles.
Zanaco will also be charging towards a similar objective of getting closer to the summit of the league table when they face ZESCO United.
