LUPIYA: POOR ATTITUDE COST US

ZESCO United acting head coach, Alfred Lupiya has attributed his sides 1-3 defeat at the hands of Green Buffaloes to poor attitude from the players.

Goals from Robinson Siame, Jack Chirwa and John Kosamu ensured that the soldier boys left Ndola smiling from ear-to-ear.

The Ndola based league outfit could only manage a 90’ minute consolation goal courtesy of Sam Mkandawire goal.

“We showed very poor attitude in todays(yesterday’s) game. This performance is totally different from what we expected especially after playing well against Zanaco. I am very disappointed. Buffaloes are on top of their game so if you start the game like that you are in problems.

“We also gave them too much respect and they capitalized on that. Of late we have been struggling at the back. I have been telling them to learn from past mistakes, but we don’t seem to be learning,” Lupiya said.

Lupiya however believes that ZESCO United has the capacity to change the narrative and expects them to emerge champions at the end of the season.

“We need to accept that we are going through a bad phase, but I strongly believe that we will recover from this chapter. It is important to get our acts together as soon as possible because we need to secure a place in this year’s Absa competition,” he said.

And the ZESCO United gaffer expects senior players to lead the club’s recovery process before facing Chambeshi on Saturday.

“We will talk to the boys and try to help them. I think we have a lot of senior players here whom we can count on to help the rest of the team. There is need to win two to three consecutive games if we are to catchup with the top four teams. I am positive we have the material to do that.”

ZESCO United will be away to Chambeshi in the MTN Super League week fourteen match scheduled for this coming Saturday.
