UNITED PREPARE FOR PRISON BREAK

New year, new hopes, new resolutions. ZESCO United’s first new year resolution will be to slice their way back into contention for the league title.

First up on the menu is a clash against Kabwe based Prison Leopards in the MTN Super League week eighteen fixture scheduled for this Saturday at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium, Ndola.

The first league meeting between the two sides this season produced a 1-1 draw at Kabwe’s Independence stadium.

Following his appointment as ZESCO United Head Coach, George Lwandamina challenged his side to once again evoke the fear factor which made the Ndola based league giants the Goliath of the Zambian game.

“I think you know where we took ZESCO United during my time here. I feel we can do it again. I am happy to be back here because I feel we still have unfinished business. I spoke to them(players) about the need to return that fearful tag that we had both at local and international level,” Lwandamina said.

Lwandamina will be desperate to see some change in fortunes after denying his side a break throughout a three-week window of unrelentless training in which five days were spent in Livingston as part of team building.

New Club Technical Director, Honour Janza will be closely watching developments at the club before mapping his development plan for the nine-times Zambian league champions.

Club management will also be looking towards reinforcing the squad following the opening of the January transfer window.

ZESCO United signed off the December break with a barren draw against Forest Rangers, a result which left them three places above the drop zone.

Three consecutive league wins will surely breath some life into a side which currently have 21 points, six behind fourth placed Red Arrows.

With no league cup to fight for, Lwandamina is aware that a strong ZESCO United side has the capacity to generate 10 consecutive league wins, a feat that could suddenly turn the tide.

As Saturday’s fixture nears, ZESCO United fans will be eager to see what Lwandamina’s third coming promises starting with his first official match in charge of the Ndola based league outfit.
