ZESCO United first Assistant Coach, Tenant Chilumba has bemoaned the team’s failure to beat Nkwazi in Sundays MTN Super League week 20 fixture played at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium.
United failed to sail past a resolute Nkwazi side who held on to a barren draw despite ending the last 45’ minutes with a man down.
“We are disappointed that we failed to win the game especially when you look at the way the table currently looks like. We really wanted to win the game unfortunately we could only manage to get a draw. The boys tried but it wasn’t just our day to carry maximum points,” Chilumba said.
And Chilumba said despite dominating proceedings for most part of the 90’ minutes, the team lacked concentration on target.
“Firstly, Nkwazi closed the game on us especially when they went a man down. They hardly looked like a side that wanted to win the game just from the way they set up. They made some tactical changes when they lost a man by adding more numbers behind the ball making it hard for us to score. We were also not clinical enough on target.”
ZESCO United will this Saturday face Lumwana Radiants in the MTN Super League week 21 fixture scheduled for Solwezi.
Yesterday’s result left ZESCO United 10th on the league table with 26 points while Saturday’s opponents Lumwana Radiants sits in the relegation zone with 22 points.
