ZESCO United first assistant coach Tenant Chilumba expects his side to build on yesterday’s victory as the battle for top four remains open.
United beat Kabwe Warriors 1-0 on Sunday in the MTN Super League week 27 match played at Ndola’s Trade Fair Grounds.
Congolese striker Moise Lola delivered United’s three points courtesy of a 90’ minute goal condemning Warriors to a second consecutive defeat.
A win against Warriors sees United accumulate 37points, five shot of catching Forest Rangers who currently sit in fourth position.
Sunday’s win was delivered under wet conditions following a second half of heavy rainfall which made the surface almost unplayable.
“We spoke to the boys about the possibilities of playing under these conditions. We planned for this kind of situation. The goal came through a tactical change because we knew that we needed tall players in the box. Lola was critical because we started floating long balls in the box.
This win is very important because it gives us another chance of keeping our hopes of finishing in the top four very much alive,” Chilumba said.
United’s next league match will be after the international break against relegation threatened Buildcon Football Club.
