CHICKEN “PEEPS” INTO CAF AS UNITED PUT STUBBORN RANGERS TO THE SWORD

ZESCO United this afternoon enhanced their chances of securing a CAF spot following a spirited display that ended Nchanga Rangers’ fifteen match home unbeaten record.

The nine times league champions thrashed Brave Nchanga Rangers 1-3 in the MTN Super League week 32 match played at Nchanga stadium in Chingola.

Rangers came into this afternoons fixture boasting a record of Ten draws at home and five wins, a feat which was going to be tested by a United side resolved to finish in the top four.

It took the visitors only 26’ minutes to breach the Rangers defense which has stood firm for the last fifteen home games.

Collins Sikombe beat Victor Chabu in the 27’ minute to open the score line after a quick interchange of passes between John Chingandu and Enock Sakala.

Still dazed by the first punch, Nchanga Rangers conceded a second in a space of three minutes. Enterprising Eswatin international defender Lindo Mkhonta’s shot came off the hosts upright only to be tapped in by Nigerian defense kingpin Denis Nya to double the lead.

George Lwandamina’s side ended the rout with a Kelvin Kampamba 80’ minute goal which has put United in a solid position to fight for a Caf slot.

Rangers Andrew Phiri’s 91’ minute cancelation goal hardly made a difference for a side that is battling relegation.

Meanwhile, Lwandamina and his lads will be delighted to hear that Nkana has beaten Napsa Stars 1-0 while Power Dynamos have powered their way to a seventh league title after todays 0-2 victory over Forest Rangers.

United’s victory over Nchanga Rangers has seen the 2020/21 league champions climb into second position having accrued 49 points with a better goal difference over Napsa Stars and Green Eagles.

The Ndola based league outfit will now shift focus to their next mouthwatering home fixture against Nkana.
