ZESCO United Football Club will tomorrow take on Kansanshi Dynamos as the Zambian FAZ/MTN resumes after having been temporarily halted following the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic.
ZESCO United head coach, George Lwandamina will be rallying his charges to put up a stellar performance especially after having recorded mixed results in their previous games.
Lwandamina will be encouraged by the fact that his lads have had time to rest and recover from fatigue and injuries that had plagued the team following a mouthful list of fixtures in both the CAF Champions League and the domestic league.
“The break has provided us with some room to rest. It has also been crucial in as far as getting everyone back from various injuries. The biggest job now is working on their fitness levels which will be a challenge,” Lwandamina said.
ZESCO United are aware of what is at stake when they take on Kansanshi Dynamos. Any possible slipups may complicate the team’s chances of retaining the FAZ/MTN Super League title.
“Our objective still remains the same; returning the Super League title. Everyone in this team understands that. I will not say much about the opposition because I am firmly focused on preparing my team for Sunday’s game.”
Lwandamina will be buoyed by the fact that his striking force has been boosted by the arrival of Kenyan international striker John Makwata who announced himself to the ZESCO United faithfuls in style.
Makwata has thus far bagged three goals in five games. The Kenyan nascent striker will be hoping to continue where he left off.
In the middle of the park, Zimbabwean international midfielder, Tafadzwa Rusike will continue to provide those defense splitting passes that proved damaging to the opposition.
At the back, Lwandamina will be hoping that Clement Mwape and company won’t leave any room for error as the Champions embark on their journey to the summit of the 2019/2020 Super League season.
Before the League curtains where temporally closed, Forest Rangers led the table with 46 points from their 24 games, followed by Napsa Stars (45 from 25), Green Eagles (44 from 24), Nkana (43 from 24), and ZESCO United (42 from 24).
ZESCO United will this Sunday host Kansanshi Dynamos at the Levy Mwanawasa stadium in a week 25 rescheduled fixture to be played behind closed doors.
