ZESCO United Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of Chanda Mukuka from FAZ/Eden University National division one side, Gomes Football Club. The promising young attacking midfielder, has signed a two-year loan deal with room for an extension.
20-year old Mukuka is another talent that ZESCO United management couldn’t resist investing in especially at a time when a horde of young players are making their way into the senior side.
“This is a big achievement for a young player like me because it’s everyone’s dream to play for a massive club like ZESCO United. I couldn’t believe it when I was initially told that I was joining ZESCO not until my manager informed me,” explains Mukuka.
The former U-17 National team player is already aware of the task ahead of him: “I need to humble myself, work hard and listen more to what I am being told by the coach. There are lot of young players here like Enock and Samuel. If they can play, then I can also make it through hard work.”
ZESCO United coach Numba Mumamba is happy to re-unite with the young attacking midfielder whom he coached both at the U-17 and U-20 National team.
“He is a young player who is developing. He has the talent but needs encouragement from everyone so that he can continue developing into a better player. I worked with him at U-17 and U-20 and I know what he can bring to this team.”
Mukuka’s exploits in the few friendlies that Gomes played against ZESCO United marked the end of the road for the young midfielder at Gomes and the beginning of a bigger and promising love affair with ZESCO United.
“The boy has matured a lot and will fit very well in our side. You could see his qualities from the few friendlies that we played against Gomes.
I must say the environment for young ones to develop is excellent here. The senior players we have here are always encouraging the young ones. That’s the more reason they are expressing themselves. They don’t have fear and they are improving by the day. We just have to keep on encouraging them,” Mumamba said.
