ZESCO United goalkeeper, Ian Otieno has challenged his teammates to give their whole when the eight times FAZ/MTN Super League giants clash against an in form Buildcon side on Saturday.
Otieno returns after serving a one-match suspension following his dismissal during the ZESCO United’s league encounter against Lusaka Dynamos.
“I am very happy to make a return to the team. I received an unnecessary second yellow card. Referees are human and are prone to make mistakes. What’s crucial is that I am back in the team and am pretty sure the entire technical bench is happy with this development.”
The Kenyan international goalkeeper is optimistic the club has what it takes to beat Buildcon despite the former enjoying some fine form which saw them easily wallop Nkana 3-1.
“You can’t take away the fact that they are playing well. However, we are also playing very well. We will need all the guns available to carry the day on Saturday. It is crucial to win this match because we are in the title race as such consistency is needed in terms of winning games.”
Meanwhile, Otieno has appealed to the club’s faithful’s to be patient with the former league champions.
“Fans need to be patient because this league is very tight. If you look at the first five teams; the first one is leaving us with a point or two.
I understand that they are disappointed because we lost to Young Green Eagles, but this is football, anyone can lose and anyone can win. We are doing everything possible to win the league.”
ZESCO United will this Saturday battle it out with Buildcon Football Club in the FAZ/MTN week 17 league encounter scheduled for the Levy Mwanawasa stadium, Ndola.
